The Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) held its annual Innovation, Improvement & Impact Conference and Awards at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on Wednesday January 31, 2018.
Over 170 delegates from NHS organisations, industry and academia attended the event, which provided an opportunity for the AHSN to showcase its work and the benefits it’s delivering by supporting both local and national projects.
The conference was officially opened by the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN Chair Professor William Pope.
Chief Executive Officer, Richard Stubbs, introduced the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN by discussing the future of health innovation and the role it plays in assisting the spread of innovation and medical technology throughout the region.
Delegates heard from a number of individuals who are at the forefront of tackling the challenges and opportunities in health innovation throughout the day.
One of those individuals was Sophie Castle-Clarke, a senior fellow in Health Policy & Digital Programme Lead at Nuffield Trust, who discussed the challenges for innovation and adoption in the NHS in her key note speech.
Another was Tony Cooke, a Chief Officer at Health Partnerships and Chief Operating Officer of the Leeds Academic Health Partners who outlined how LAHP partners use innovation and creativity to put Leeds at the forefront of health and wellbeing in his key note speech.
Cleveland Henry who is Programme Director for Innovations, Digital Futures & Digital Collaboration at NHS Digital gave delegates insight into digital future opportunities and their potential links to support today’s challenges in his key note speech.
Delegates were given the opportunity to see and interact with multiple ready now innovations from across the health and care landscape at an Expo featuring 40 organisations.
An Innovation Carousel provided NHS National Innovation Accelerator (NIA) fellows and regional Innovators a few minutes each to showcase rapid and gripping presentations on their digital healthcare solutions.
