Innovation Champions: How and why to protect your intellectual property

REGISTER

Staff within the NHS are often best placed to generate and develop new solutions to unmet clinical needs. However, the importance of protecting these ideas, and the ways and means of doing so, is often overlooked.

Hosted by Medipex and the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN as part of the Innovation Champions Network, this session offers an introduction into the complex world of intellectual property and the importance of asserting ownership of your ideas. It offers essential learning for new Innovation Champions and serves as a good reminder for those who are already involved with the network.

The session will cover:

  • How you can protect the development stages for your idea through different types of intellectual property (IP)
  • How to avoid potential infringement issues surrounding other organisations’ products and services
  • Issues around working with other organisations and safeguarding against these.

This session is free to staff from NHS organisations who are members of the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN and/or Medipex.

As this course forms part of a programme of work with NHS staff, we regret that this course is not open to commercial innovators.
