The Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) and Medipex Ltd have launched a new dedicated online resource for the Yorkshire & Humber Innovation Champion Network.
The new website has been developed in response to Innovation Champions’ requests for a safe and supportive online environment where they could meet each other virtually, build relationships and share their ideas, experiences, successes, knowledge and learning in order to speed up the adoption of healthcare innovation across the region.
Previously known as the Innovation Scout Network, the Innovation Champions are a network of individuals employed by NHS organisations throughout the region, from a variety of areas of expertise, who have an interest and passion for developing and implementing new ideas in healthcare delivery. They are supported by programme partners Yorkshire & Humber AHSN and Medipex Ltd to be innovation ambassadors within their organisations.
The Innovation Champion Network (ICN) aims to empower individuals to promote and support innovative activities within their NHS organisations, to encourage colleagues to come forward with their ideas and inventions and promote the spread and adoption of new best practice and technologies between NHS organisations.
Philippa Hedley-Takhar, Head of Investment and Partnerships at Yorkshire & Humber AHSN, said: “The website enables Innovation Champions to access the wealth of training resources available, make contact through the Members’ Directory; communicate with each other in a secure forum and contribute to the future content of learning sessions based on areas of common interest.
“Our Innovation Champions play an important part in driving change across the NHS so we hope this new resource will prove invaluable in helping them achieve their objectives.”
Dr Fabian Seymour, Innovation Manager, heading up the ICN training at Medipex, commented: “By providing the right tools and education we can help innovative NHS staff turn their ideas into something tangible that can benefit patients and make services more efficient. The new website will bring together relevant information and promote the sharing of experiences, supporting the practical training programme that has been developed specifically to help Innovation Champions recognise, protect and develop good ideas in the most effective way.”
Paula Rylatt, Innovation Development Manager and ICN Champion, South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I’m very much looking forward to engaging with the Innovation Champion Network website. This is an excellent opportunity for us to come together to share and develop our ideas and innovations across the region through peer collaboration.
“The website will provide a pathway for internal champions who can then connect to the wider network and I personally find the potential to tap into this wealth of knowledge, skills and experience really exciting.”
