Innovations in healthcare products and services developed by NHS employees from across the Yorkshire and Humber and North East and North Cumbria regions are to be showcased at a dedicated event at Thirsk Racecourse on Thursday 13th October.
The event is a joint venture organised by the Yorkshire & Humber and North East and North Cumbria Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs), and their respective Innovation Champion and Innovation Scout Network partners, Medipex Ltd and NHS Innovations North.
Attendees will have the opportunity to showcase projects, share learning about creating a culture of innovation within the NHS and celebrate the achievements of NHS innovators. Competition winners from both regions will be chosen at the event and will receive early stage proof of concept funding.
Philippa Hedley-Takhar, Head of Investment and Partnerships at Yorkshire & Humber AHSN, said: “This event has been designed to celebrate the success and commitment of the Innovation Champions by rewarding and recognising the impact they are having within their organisations.
“It will also enable the Innovation Champions to explore collaborative working by providing an opportunity for peer networking and relationship building.”
Dr Rachel Turnbull, Project Manager at North East and North Cumbria AHSN, added: “We are delighted to be able to team up with one of our neighbouring regions for this joint event to share some of the great work that happens in our local areas and celebrate innovation in healthcare in a collaborative forum.”
The Innovation Champion Network (ICN) and Innovation Scout Scheme aims to empower individuals to promote and support innovative activities within their NHS organisations, to encourage colleagues to come forward with their ideas and inventions and promote the spread and adoption of new best practice and technologies between NHS organisations.
