The Yorkshire & Humber AHSN is a Company Limited by Guarantee which holds the current NHS England AHSN Licence for the Yorkshire & Humber region, expiring in March 2018. It is one of 15 AHSNs nationally, and has a footprint which is co-terminous with the Yorkshire & Humber region. New licences for all the AHSNs nationally, from April 2018, are currently under discussion.
We now seek to appoint a substantive MD, to continue to lead and deliver on the current licence requirements through to March 2018, and also to successfully take the AHSN into and through the negotiations and arrangements for the next NHS England Licence period, anticipated to be 2018-23.
This is an exciting but demanding role with challenging deliverables to actively support our stakeholders across health and care, academia and industry. The challenges facing the sectors with which we engage are widely known and neither the AHSN nor our stakeholders are insulated from these. There are, however, huge opportunities for AHSNs too, as has been referenced by recent Government papers such as the Accelerated Access Review and Industrial Strategy, and a tremendous track record on which to build.
The role requires an individual with a proven track record in leading an organisation and delivering in a fast paced environment. Experience is essential in delivering change at pace and scale to the NHS, academia and industry through innovation, improvement and impact, whilst also improving service quality, safety and value for money.
The candidate must understand AHSNs and the landscape in which the AHSN operates. Experience in dealing with different aspects of the NHS, academia and industry and both the regional and national stakeholders of the AHSN is also a key requirement.
Although based in Yorkshire & Humber region (currently with operations in Wakefield and Bradford), and involving much travel throughout the region, this post also requires extensive time away from the office and travel away from home outside the region, both nationally and occasionally internationally.
Remuneration: according to experience
