A central element of our role at Yorkshire & Humber AHSN is to stimulate innovation in health and care across the region. That’s why we are delighted to see our partners at Sheffield Hallam University working with industry innovators in the wellbeing sector.

The university’s newly-launched Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC), housed on the site of the prestigious Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield, is looking for startups, academics, and businesses working in wellbeing who will have free use of its world-leading research, development, and testing facilities through its intensive Wellbeing Accelerator Programme.

The first stages of the programme have been adapted to work virtually due to the restrictions of COVID-19.

As partners of the accelerator programme we’re providing a range of expert advice and mentoring to the companies creating wellbeing innovations.

Simon Butler, Head of the AWRC Wellbeing Accelerator Programme, said:

“Health and wellbeing are central to the AWRC and of course COVID-19 has brought this into sharp focus. We are delighted to be working with the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN to promote this programme and to help companies to realise the opportunities within the NHS.”

Our own digital health accelerator programme, Propel@YH, provides innovative organisations developing digital health solutions with access to a structured course of support and advice aimed at enabling accelerated company growth and increased market presence. Propel@YH has now seen its first cohort of innovators graduate – with companies from Yorkshire and the Humber taking part as well as other from across the country and overseas coming to the region to take part.

We are now excited to be recruiting for our second cohort as we move into a whole new era of digital innovation for the COVID-19 universe. So far, we have been really pleased to see an increase in applications for the second cohort.
