The NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards has announced its 2020 shortlist. The awards are hosted and organised by the Innovation Agency for the North West Coast and co-sponsored by the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN, and Health Innovation Manchester. This year the awards recognise businesses, NHS organisations and third sector companies that have responded positively to COVID-19.

This year, three categories were open to applicants:

• Excellence in supply during COVID-19: Fighting the virus
• Excellence in supply during COVID-19: Supporting the system
• Excellence in supply during COVID-19: NHS procurement heroes

The awards are looking for examples of organisations that reacted innovatively to COVID-19 to enhance patient care through the supply of a product, process or service, those that sought to enhance or transform existing areas of patient care or services provided by NHS Trusts or teams in NHS Trusts that provided exceptional support during the pandemic.

The awards ceremony will be held on 22 October.

Richard Stubbs, Chief Executive Officer at Yorkshire & Humber AHSN said: “Innovation and creativity have been essential components of the response of the health and care system to COVID-19. This shortlist demonstrates the value of effective relationships between NHS trusts and suppliers. I congratulate all shortlisted organisations, and look forward to showcasing just some of the work that’s been undertaken in our region this year.”

Dr Liz Mear, Chief Executive of the Innovation Agency, said: “The shortlisted organisations for this year’s awards demonstrate how integral excellence in supply is to good quality healthcare. NHS trusts in our region have established ground-breaking initiatives through excellent relationships with organisations large and small. These relationships have sustained the region’s response to COVID-19, and I look forward to celebrating the hard work and innovation which we’ve seen throughout the crisis.”
