New Managing Director for Leeds Academic Health Partnership

Posted: 19th August 2020

Dr Liz Mear has been appointed as Managing Director for Leeds Academic Health Partnership (LAHP), one of the biggest of its kind in the UK.

Liz is currently Chief Executive of the Innovation Agency, the Academic Health Science Network for the North West Coast. She is also an external Director of the Northern Health Science Alliance as well as a non-executive Director for Health Education England.

We are delighted to welcome Liz in her new role where we wish her great success, having worked closely with her and her team at the Innovation Agency on a range of multi-partner health initiatives across the North set to save the NHS millions of pounds.

She said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to have been appointed as the LAHP’s new managing director. It’s clear that much hard work has gone into establishing its strong foundations and I’m looking forward to working with the team and our partners to build on those and to shape the next chapter.”

Gideon Ben-Tovim OBE, Chair of the Innovation Agency, said:

“Liz has made a great contribution not only to developments and partnerships across our whole North West Coast footprint, but also nationally in helping secure the reputation and role of the Academic Health Science Networks as the ‘innovation arm of the NHS’.

“She will be greatly missed here but we wish her well in her new role.”

Liz’s previous roles include Director in an acute NHS Trust, a mental health NHS foundation trust and an ambulance trust. She has also worked in local government.
