On the 24th July, the North East and North Cumbria and Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Collaborative MATNEO Safety Improvement programme came together for a joint virtual event which focused on working through unprecedented change due to COVID-19: sharing ideas for creating a positive environment for staff, women and families.
Throughout the past few months maternity and neonatal teams have been working hard to continue to deliver excellent care, this has led to some great innovations and a welcome focus on supporting the wellbeing of patients, families and staff.
The Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Collaborative wanted to provide an opportunity to share this good practice across both regions, to provide an opportunity to inspire and learn from each other and to help maintain the focus on such an important area.
113 staff attended the event which had 11 speakers and covered a wide range of subjects, including:
- An interactive presentation around music for wellbeing which led to interesting suggestions for ‘music to give birth to’
- How to better support staff through incident investigations
- The role the airline industry played in supporting staff through the COVID-19 epidemic in ‘Project Wingman’.
Some of the comments captured included:
‘Stimulating, educational and motivational’
‘Thought provoking, interesting, enjoyable’
