Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for two HSJ Partnership Awards 2020, recognising its outstanding dedication to improving healthcare.

The two categories are:

• HealthTech Partnership of the Year for our work with Healthcare Engineering and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
• Best Pharmaceutical Partnership with the NHS for our work with Bayer to help reduce strokes in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate area

Healthcare Engineering’s Smart-ER is a software-based tool designed to improve urgent and emergency care services by enabling patients to provide information whilst waiting to see a clinician.

We have been working with Bayer on a quality improvement programme to identify and treat people with Atrial Fibrillation (AF) in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate region.

As the most common type of irregular heart rhythm, AF is responsible for approximately 20% of all strokes. Survivors must live with the disabling consequences and treating the condition costs the NHS over £2.2 billion each year.

The judging panel comprised a diverse range of highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, despite tough competition from hundreds of brilliant applicants, is a mark of real achievement for Yorkshire & Humber AHSN and its partners. The shortlisted projects have been selected based on their diligence, ambition and the positive impact that the project has had on both practitioners and patients within the health care industry.

The winners will be selected following a rigorous, “live panel” judging stage ahead of the HSJ Partnership Awards 2020 awards ceremony. Held at the Park Plaza Westminster on the 27^th February, the evening will provide a great opportunity for influential figures to unite and celebrate the achievements of their industry peers. The awards evening is expected to be attended by leaders and professionals from both the NHS and private sector as well as figures from non-clinical backgrounds to celebrate innovation and collaboration in healthcare.

This year’s chosen charity partner is MediCinema a charity dedicated to improving the wellbeing of patients, their families and carers across the UK through the magic of the shared cinema experience.
