Winners announced in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Awards

Posted: 22nd September 2020

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Awards forms part of the NHS AI Lab and is run by the Accelerated Accelerative Collaborative (AAC) in partnership with NHSX and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

A total of 42 awards were made across the four phases of the AI Awards, with companies receiving a share of £50 million.

The AI Awards will make £140 million available over three years to companies that develop AI technology.

Of the phase four winners, two companies: Healthy.io and DrDoctor have been closely supported by the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN

DrDoctor is an online system that enables patients to make and change appointments online, on their smartphone, or by SMS, view letters and complete forms, and to give staff a much simpler way to communicate remotely.

Healthy.io’s urinalysis device Dipio is used remotely to monitor a range of medical conditions from pre-eclampsia to renal disease.

Neville Young, Director of Enterprise and Innovation at the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN said: “The launch of this new award scheme for AI innovators in healthcare is thoroughly welcomed by the AHSN Network. Our 15 regional AHSNs have supported a number of the selected companies over the past few years, and we are delighted to see them get this deserved recognition.”
