A delegation from Xi’an Municipal Healthcare and Family Planning Commission, China is visiting Sheffield City Region from Monday 7th November to Wednesday 9th November and would like to meet with businesses with digital health expertise.
Implementation of digital health technology is a priority for Xi’an in order to:
- increase access to healthcare for the population in rural areas
- improve efficiency in healthcare delivery
- enhance the patient experience through integrated care.
The city is investing significantly in new-build hospitals and associated infrastructure over the next five years and will be a flagship pilot location for shared learning in new models of care provision across China.
Key purposes of the visit are to share learning about the challenge of digitalising healthcare and to start to develop relationships with partners with the expertise to support the design and construction of advanced digital health infrastructure through commercial partnerships.
The visit to Sheffield follows a scoping visit from Sheffield City Region to Xi’an District in August 2016.
The delegation will include Government and provider representatives and decision makers from:
- Xi’an Health and Family Planning Commission, Department of Health Science Technology and Education
- Xi’an Yanliang District Health and Family Planning Bureau
- Xi’an Third Hospital
- Xi’an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine

There is also an opportunity for businesses and digital health experts from across the Sheffield City Region to join a multi-partner trade mission to Xi’an, China from 3rd to 8th December and benefit from targeted pre-arranged B2B business meetings in response to commercial opportunities.
Key technology applications identified of interest are Hospital Planning, Design & Operation (integrated record systems, cloud storage, data analysis and interpretation), Training & Education (public health campaigns, digital practitioner skills) and Telehealth and Remote Monitoring Solutions.
