How we work

Health innovation networks operate locally and also benefit from being part of a national network

Each health innovation network is embedded in its regional health and care community, understanding the system and patient needs on the ground. We develop projects, programmes and initiatives that reflect the diversity of our local populations and healthcare challenges.

Each local network is also part of the national Health Innovation Network, linked into a unique collaboration of expertise and experience, sharing learning, pooling intelligence and benefitting from a pipeline of emerging and proven solutions from around the country.

Visit the Health Innovation Network website to find out more about our national work.

With the support of our AHSN partner, we can demonstrate the implementation of evidence-based interventions that we estimate have prevented 1,000 readmissions to hospital; one case of cerebral palsy; 125 strokes through the introduction of mobile electrocardiography and associated services; 10 heart attacks and another 14 strokes through roll out of the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Healthy Hearts programme.

Rob Webster, CEO Lead for West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership

The Yorkshire & Humber AHSN has been fundamental to the progress we have made. They have provided support, advice and guidance from the very start and we would not be where we are today without this. The entire team is helpful and accommodating and it has been a delight to work with them.

Amjid Mohammed, CEO, Healthcare Engineering

This new northern cooperative will allow us to use digital pathology to help patients across the region, and provide a platform on which we will develop artificial intelligence tools for pathology diagnosis to be used around the world.
