Webinar: Reset, not recovery: reframing the health and care response to COVID-19

REGISTER

The NHS Confederation is supporting members to connect, debate and shape the health and care system’s evolving response to COVID-19. Resetting how the sector operates in the emerging climate means first recognising the scale, effort and sacrifice given to protect our citizens, and reflecting on the partnerships, innovations and approaches we should be prioritising in the coming months.

The immediate response from the NHS and local partners to the challenges raised by COVID-19 has been exceptional, with a rapid transformation in clinical practice, new and innovative approaches to service administration and provision and a much greater understanding of the skill, value and flexibility of our workforce. Whilst our clinicians, leaders and the range of public servants grapple with immediate, complex and hugely formidable daily issues, their actions and decisions are also implicitly shaping the sector in ways that will determine its future in the longer-term. How can we build on this emerging practice to collectively develop the future we want? How should we frame this early system thinking throughout a period of on-going turmoil?

This webinar will be the second in a series of open resources and products, prepared with and for our members and partners as we begin to initiate discussions locally, regionally and nationally about the nature and scope of the services we want to lead and provide in the future and the wider landscape in which the sector operates.

The NHS Confederation will chair the webinars and we will hear from leaders across health and care as they talk about how they are framing early local approaches to their system ‘reset’. It will discuss:

  • Early system approaches to managing the ‘reset’
  • Capturing innovation and learning in real-time
  • Building local momentum with key partners
  • The critical early focus on mental health
