We are pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for three awards for this year’s Medilink Healthcare Business Awards.

Healthy Hearts, our partnership project with West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership to help reduce cardiovascular disease,  has been nominated for the ‘Partnership with the NHS: Primary Care Award’, while our work to implement TytoCare’s remote monitoring device and DocAbode’s workforce resource management software has been shortlisted for the ‘Partnership with the NHS: Advances in Digital Healthcare Award’.

The awards offer the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of life science companies and innovators over the past year and showcase the very best examples of collaboration between industry, academia and the NHS in the North of England.

We work in partnership with our regional health and care community and develop projects, programmes and initiatives that reflect the diversity and meet the needs of the local populations and healthcare challenges, so I’m therefore pleased to see this collaborative effort is being recognised in this way”.

In West Yorkshire and Harrogate alone, more than 600,000 people are affected by high blood pressure (hypertension), one of the most significant risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The West Yorkshire and Harrogate Healthy Hearts  project aims to reduce the number of people affected by CVD by 10%, resulting in an estimated reduction of 800 heart attacks and 350 strokes, and saving the local economy around £12million.

Working closely with primary care is vital to the success of Healthy Hearts and the project team has engaged directly with more than 1,000 healthcare professionals to share resources, spread learning, and share good practice in the diagnosis and treatment of three specific major risk factors for cardiovascular disease including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.

Doc Abode is a multi-award-winning software platform, which improves workforce capacity and resilience in out-of-hour and primary care settings. The Doc Abode platform enables real-time clinician deployment, safely connecting a multi-disciplinary clinical workforce to NHS patient needs based on availability, proximity and expertise. It provides clinicians with an alternative to shift-based work which leads to the delivery of better care, improved patient experience and reduced costs to the NHS.

TytoCare is a wireless handheld device that allows clinicians, community care teams and patients and their families to perform medical examinations anytime, anywhere for the ear, throat, lungs, heart, temperature, skin and abdomen. These examinations can be online, live with a medical professional or can be recorded by the patient, parent or carer and uploaded to a secure platform for review by clinical teams.

It can be used to diagnose a range of acute conditions such as colds, flu, ear infections, bronchitis and sore throats and can also be used to manage chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), high blood pressure, asthma, congestive heart failure and diabetes.

The product is being rolled-out to support staff and patients in a variety of care settings ranging from children’s hospitals and emergency departments to care homes and GP practices.

The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Principal Hotel in York on 12 May.
